If we are to maintain a calm mind so we can make progress in our meditation leading back to God, we need to cultivate forgiveness.— H.H. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj
Sunday at Kirpal Bagh saw several thousand people from various parts of India and abroad gathered to hear H.H. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj’s satsang or spiritual discourse.
In his talk, he began by saying in order to fulfill the true purpose of this human birth, we have to extract ourselves from the clutches of the mind. We should focus our attention in the right direction at all times, even while fulfilling our worldly obligations and responsibilities.
He went on to explain that the mind has a million ways to ensnare us and keep us from turning our attention Godward. It makes us happy or sad, distracts us with desires, and we unknowingly waste precious time in pursuing life’s fleeting joys. We forget that true, everlasting happiness lies within ourselves and can be found by inverting our attention. This allows us to live in a state of equipoise and not let ups and downs derail us from our spiritual path and practices. In order to progress on the spiritual path, we should live a life of love and firm faith in God, not let our intellect dictate our actions, and devote regular time to meditation.
