NEWS BRIEFSSEPTEMBER 2006Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj Visits Munich, GermanyOn Sunday, August 27, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj visited Munich, Germany on his way to India, where he would convene the 23rd International Human Unity conference and celebrate his 60th birthday. According to Indian custom, the 60th birthday is an occasion for grand festivities, and the people in Europe also wished to honor the spiritual Master’s birth anniversary.
The program began with a lavish vegetarian meal, followed by a spiritual talk where Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj discoursed on verses by the Sufi poet, Bulleh Shah. The spiritual Master said saints and mystics all speak about the divine intoxication we receive when gathered in remembrance of God. Following his discourse, presentations were made of his recent publication, Spiritual Pearls for Enlightened Living. The young adults presented Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj with a specially designed birthday card, and a music video, "The Story of a Saint," was shown, portraying highlights from the spiritual Master’s life and spiritual mission. The children's group sang a birthday song and released colorful balloons which soared to the ceiling. Cake-cutting followed, and when the birthday cake with lit candles was brought in, the lights in the ballroom were dimmed. Everyone in the hall then lit a small candle, and the ballroom was aglow with hundreds of twinkling lights. Someone explained, "These small candles signify the inner Light of each person . . . and the extraordinary Light we find emanating from this spiritual Master." A wonderful cultural program concluded the evening as several professional musicians and singers performed songs of happiness and joy. The program continued into the early hours of the morning when Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj again greeted everyone personally. On Monday, August 28th, the spiritual Master departed for Delhi, India for the inauguration of the 23rd International Human Unity Conference.
