NEWS BRIEFSOCTOBER 2004Tours In India
After an absence of eight years, on September 28 Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj returned to Baroda, India.
He also visited nearby areas in Gujarat where people who had traveled from 300 villages gathered to see him.
Traveling to Godhra, a town 50 miles from Baroda, he gave a spiritual discourse at the local science
college grounds.
Here he discoursed on a hymn of Mira Bai, a woman saint of India, saying that ultimately it is humility
and the soul's desire for God's compassion and grace that are effective on the spiritual path.
He then likened Mira Bai to the fifth century Christian mystic, St. Augustine, who said "O Lord,
Thou has created my soul after Thee, and it is burning in anguish until it rests in Thee."
This was also an opportunity for Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj to visit and bless land newly
purchased for Kirpal Ashram in Khatinba.
On the evening of October 6, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj traveled to Meerut, an hour away from Delhi. In his spiritual discourse, he said, since the dawn of time human beings have searched high and low for the elixir that would grant them eternal life. This elixir, he said, is the holy Word, the Naam or Shabd. When we meditate on it, not only does our journey to the spiritual worlds begin but our immortality is guaranteed. On October 11th, the spiritual Master left for Sonipat, a small town near Delhi, to give an evening program. He told the audience love beautifies everything, and has the power to transform even life's afflictions. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj’s next trip out of Delhi was to Bulandshahar, a town 60 miles away. In the early 20th century, during the time of Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj, the villagers of Bulandshahar used to walk the long distance to Delhi to hear the great saint's discourse. The program opened with a song by the children's group and continued with Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj reading and commenting on a verse from Sant Kabir Sahib. On October 26, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj visited the Gorakhpur railway stadium grounds where he expounded on a hymn by Sant Paltu, which says the world is illusory. However, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj explained, God distributes the treasure of mercy by helping us cross the ocean of life until we reach our true spiritual home. The spiritual Master then inaugurated two new ashrams in the area and cut the ribbon dedicating a new interfaith library. The last tour in India was to Gonda, a town 60 miles from Delhi. At every tour stop, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj gave beautiful discourses on how we can lead a spiritual life and travel back to God. At every stop he was greeted by tens of thousands of people. In one town, the audience numbered 60,000. On this last stop, he again stressed that unbounded joy awaits us within, and it is through meditation on the inner Light and Sound of God that we can travel to these spiritual regions.
