Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj explains that we can attain self-knowledge and God-realization in the context of modern life. We can lead a productive, fulfilling life in the world while working towards spiritual ends. Indeed, spirituality means love in action. It means enjoying our spiritual riches and sharing them with all we meet. We can learn to balance our spiritual practices with our worldly responsibilities. Leading an ethical life of nonviolence, truthfulness, purity and humility, we can enjoy the fruits we gain within, in our meditation practice, and share these gifts with all we meet.
Service to Humanity
Service to humanity is a central principle of Science of Spirituality. The organization
has offered medical and financial aid during natural disasters.
Free kitchens, known as langar, operate throughout India. Open to the public, just in Delhi alone,
they serve five thousand meals a day, twenty five thousand every Sunday, and over hundred
thousand during the three-to ten-day conferences. Science of Spirituality also provides medical
clinics that offer allopathic, homeopathic, and ayurvedic treatment free of charge.
Spiritual Masters of Science of Spirituality have traditionally visited the sick, helped the aged,
and assisted those with special needs.
Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj personally encourages people to help others selflessly whenever and wherever they can, in order to make this world a better place. He teaches that respect for the environment and for all forms of creation is an important aspect of a spiritual life.
Darshan Academy
Darshan Academies are co-educational schools, serving children from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve. With a curriculum developed by an international staff, these schools will serve as educational models for the twenty-first century. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj established the first Darshan Academy in Meerut, India, and named it in honor of the great poet-saint Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj. Numerous academies are now located throughout India. Using English as its primary language, each school provides instruction that helps students integrate their physical, intellectual, and spiritual development. In addition to the standard educational curriculum, Darshan Academies teach and promote the ethical and spiritual values common to all religions. Students are taught to view themselves as citizens of the entire world—a world whose prosperity and well-being will depend on human harmony and cooperation.
Students and teachers begin each day with meditation. Both parents and teachers have commented
on the peaceful effect this has on the school’s atmosphere. The curriculum includes lessons on
conflict resolution to help children learn techniques to resolve differences and disagreements
in a nonviolent manner.
Each school has modern computers and audio/visual equipment. They also have libraries with both traditional educational material and resources on spirituality. The Academy's many extra curricular activities are popular with children and broaden their learning and social experience.
The dedicated administration and teaching staff believe that every child is unique, with a variety of talents and learning needs. The aim of the Darshan Academies is to develop the intellect, character, and individuality of its students while training them to be high achievers, both academically and personally.
