From Stress to Stillness

November 14, 2025

After conducting spiritual programs in Singapore, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj traveled to Hong Kong as part of his 2025 Asia Tour. In his address in Tung Chung, the spiritual Master explained how turning inward awakens inner peace, cultivates harmony, and brings lasting joy to our lives.

Reflecting on the human condition, the spiritual Master explained how leading a life of duality, in which we believe we are separate and better than others, results in strain and conflict. In today’s fast-paced world of instant communication and shrinking distances, we interact with people of diverse backgrounds and sensibilities. As intellectual beings, we also seek proof and certainty. When life does not unfold as we expect, we find ourselves in a state of stress.

How, then, can we recognize our oneness and experience a life of lasting joy and peace? Citing the Genome Project of the new millennium, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji underscored how even science corroborates our oneness. Scientists have shown that more than 99.9% of human genes are identical, with only 0.1% accounting for our visible outer differences. Unfortunately, we base our judgments on these very differences, leading to further division.

We tend to think of ourselves as the body and mind. We while away precious time amassing worldly riches and establishing a sense of identity, all of which ultimately feeds the ego. This, he said, is where our downfall begins. We believe material success is all there is to life, not recognizing that life’s true purpose is to know ourselves and to find God.

As we shed our I-ness and embrace oneness, we move toward a life of stillness and peace. We realize that we are souls, filled with the love and Light of God. Through the practice of meditation under the guidance of a competent spiritual Master, we learn to overlook our outer differences and see the Light of God in every being. This understanding leads to a life of love and harmony, helping us move from stress to stillness.
