Awaken the Inner Vision Through Meditation

July 12, 2026

This afternoon, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj spoke at the Science of Spirituality International Meditation Center in Lisle, Illinois on the purpose of human life and the need to awaken the inner vision through meditation. He expounded on humanity’s longing for lasting happiness and how we instinctively search for it in the ephemeral outer world. Relationships change, possessions come and go, circumstances fluctuate, and life itself is fleeting. As long as our happiness depends upon what is constantly changing, our peace will also be unstable.

True stability, said the spiritual Master, comes only by anchoring ourselves in God, the one reality that never changes. Just as a ship remains steady when secured by a strong anchor, the soul remains calm amid life’s inevitable ups and downs when connected to the Creator.

A central theme of his discourse was awakening the inner vision. Our outer eyes naturally perceive differences. We notice distinctions of race, nationality, language, religion, and appearance. The awakened inner eye, however, sees something entirely different. It perceives the same divine Light shining within every form in creation. As this realization unfolds, the sense of separation and duality begins to dissolve. We recognize ourselves as members of one universal family, and peace, harmony, compassion, and love arise naturally. True vision unites us, while our outer vision is what divides us

We can awaken to this inner vision through meditation. As our attention collects at the seat of the soul, we begin to experience the divine Light of God already present within. God is not distant from us. The Creator dwells within each one of us, waiting for us to remove the clouds of distraction that obscure our vision. Connection with the inner Light transforms our lives. Rooted in direct experience, our faith in God is strengthened.  Anger, fear, jealousy, and ego gradually diminish, while our thoughts, words, and actions become more loving and compassionate.

Although meditation brings many physical, emotional, and mental benefits, Maharaj Ji reminded the audience that these are secondary. Its true purpose is spiritual: to experience the Creator within and awaken the inner vision through which we discover our true nature.
