The Art of Nonviolence

August 6, 2019

This Tuesday, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj gave practical advice on how we can be nonviolent in the face of the stress and turmoil we face in our daily lives.

We live in an age where violence is rampant and turmoil is all around us. In addition, he said, every day we experience pressure to get a lot done in a limited amount of time, and in our rush to accomplish these activities, we may end up being violent in thought, word or deed. How then can we aspire to be calm, peaceful and nonviolent?

The key, the spiritual Master said, is to be aware that there is bound to be stress in our lives, and we need to find ways to deal with it in a calm and peaceful manner. We should strive for a positive attitude to life so that our reactions are always calm and do not bring turmoil into the arena.

This happens as we meditate and connect with the Divine Power within ourselves. This connection makes us calm on the inside, and we will find that it begins to positively impact our interactions on the outside. As we focus on being patient in the face of all life’s challenges, we will slowly and gradually become nonviolent in thought, word and deed. It all begins with finding peace, and being content and fulfilled within.
