What is Living a Spiritual Life

Living a spiritual life begins with a yearning. Somewhere in the midst of our busy lives a small voice from within tells us that there is something missing in our lives. We feel that all that we have gained and amassed—wealth, possessions, name and fame, honors, and connections— have not brought us the fulfillment we seek.

Sometimes in moments of great pain caused either by illness, ignominy, poverty, or loss of a loved one, we also feel that something is missing from our lives.

This small voice is like a spark that over time turns into a flame of yearning to know the purpose behind our life. We begin to question our place in the universe, the existence of soul, and the existence of God. When we do not find the answers, the flames of the fire are further fanned, and an intense passion grows in us to find the truth.

The path of yearning is a road that starts with that small spark. The fulfillment of that yearning is what is called leading a spiritual life.

Meditation is Easy

Meditation is Easy

During the time of meditation, we merely put our thoughts of the world and our problems in one drawer and close it. Then, we open the drawer of meditation and concentrate only on that.

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day

On this day, and every day, let us appreciate the gift of love, how much love our mothers have for us and how much we have gained from that love. Let us also remember the one who created all mothers, God, and let a mother’s love remind us of the love that God has for us.

The Ocean of God’s Love

The Ocean of God’s Love

When we swim in the crystal clear, pure ocean of God, we can see the reflection of our true self or soul. There is no grime or dirt to muddy it. We can see to the depth of the ocean, undistracted by anything that keeps our attention from the calm of the water.
