34th Free Eye Cataract Camp in Delhi Helps Patients Regain Sight

The 34th Eye Camp organized by Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission (SKRM) was held this February on the grounds of Kirpal Bagh, in Delhi, India, on the occasion of the 32nd International Human Unity Conference.

Eye Camp Science of Spirituality Rajinder Singh

The medical camp, held under the aegis of Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, serves to identify and triage patients in need of cataract surgery who would otherwise not be able to afford the expenses of such an operation. Owing to the great demand for such services, the camps are now conducted twice a year, as part of both the International Human Unity Conference (held in February each year) and the Global Conference on Mysticism (held in September each year) organized by SKRM.

Patients attending the eye camps are first screened in Delhi by a team of medical volunteers. Selected patients, based on medical eligibility, are then transported to ICARE Eye hospital, Noida, where they undergo cataract removal and receive new state-of-the-art lenses. All surgeries are provided by a team of eye surgeons from the United States working hand in hand with a local team of surgeons at the ICARE Hospital, all of whom volunteer their time and skills for this noble cause. Patients benefit from post-operative checkups and treatment for several weeks following the operation, so they can receive maximum benefit from the surgery.

This voluntary service to the community has had a significant impact on the quality of patients’ lives. Over the last years, Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission and Science of Spirituality have helped over fifteen thousand people regain their vision through these eye camps. Word has spread far and wide, and volunteers at the camps report seeing individuals who have traveled from all regions of India to avail of the services. All health and eye camps sponsored by Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission (SKRM) and Science of Spirituality (SOS) are free of charge to all and are provided in a spirit of selfless service to the community.
